Thanks to everybody who came see me at the Best Bead Show in February. I enjoyed seeing all of you and i appreciate your support for my art.

THE ETSY STORE IS OPEN!! You can find it at http://www.etsy.com/shop/BurtonArtStudios

I will be deactivating any One Of A Kind items that I take with me to Tucson to prevent a 'double sale' from occurring.

Promote Your Page Too>This site will be for announcements and more indepth information, but I'll post announcements to the Facebook page and I'll have special promotions for Fans. I have been posting images of some of my work on there and I'm reworking the galleries here. The facebook page will give an overview of my work and I'll try to keep a complete record of my work here. This will help make this site the type of custom sales site it was originally intended to be.

Website software was upgraded 0n 10/5/09 and I finally admit defeat. I just can't make the site allow unregistered viewers into the galleries and I don't know why. I don't currently keep personal from registration data for any reason, and I am philosophically opposed to sharing such information with any other person, corporate body, or institution. Please consider becoming a registered viewer. I'm still learning some things about this software. I'll get with my Web Guy (that's a real job title) and try to figure out the gallery thing. In the mean time, please bear with the occasional glitches and bugs while I continue to wrestle with this e-beast.

Even though I am developing new glass designs I am continuing to paint miniature figures for table top wargaming. I've posted this work to the Experimental and Special Work gallery. Please take a look. This is all custom work so none of the gaming models in the gallery are for sale, but I am happy to discuss taking your commissions. I paint figures in two finishes: tabletop quality or display quality. Table top quality means the figures look good when sitting on the table as the players move them around. Display quality is exactly that: worthy of being displayed as a work of art in their own right. The pieces shown in the gallery are all Table Top Quality. New photos are forth coming. Contact me if you are interested in this kind of painting service.

I have been trying to move sales of all my hand-made items to Etsy.com and it has finally happened ! I will continue to post images of my work to these galleries as well. This will let me show pieces of my work that are available for sale as well as past items that show the range of my work.  If you see an item you like that is not listed in the Etsy store, contact me to determine availability. Thank you all very much for your continued support.

About the Galleries

The galleries are up and functional. I apologize that I still have not been able to make them available to unregistered viewers. I lack sufficient computer savvy to solve the problem at this time. Please consider becoming a registered viewer; I do not and will not share any of your personal data with anyone for any reason short of a court order. The galleries are more of a portfolio of my work than a catalog. If you see an item in these galleries, contact me to determine availability. There is some lag time between making work and getting it posted because making stuff is just more fun than taking pictures and wrestling the computer. I do make the effort to post things quickly, but as an artist I sometimes lack the organizational skills necessary to stay focused on the less exciting administrative tasks. I will announce when I post work for sale at BurtonArtStudios?.etsy.com but currently I do not have anything posted there.

Artist Statement

I do what I love and I love what I do. It sounds funny, but not everyone can say that. I pursue art not just as an occupation, but as a true vocation: I feel called to create with my hands. I've always practiced one art or another. I've done it my whole life. It's how I fill my free time. What started as a hobby has grown into the means by which I make my living. It doesn't get better than that.

Why beads?

I have an interest in anthropology, history, and art. Beads are the manifestation of the point where those interests intersect. Beads are portable and affordable. Beads are suitable for any person and every occasion. Beads are the whole of human experience and belief in small. Beads may be the oldest evidence of mankind's cultural evolution into abstract concepts in that beads serve symbolic rather than practical purposes.

On art in general:

Art feeds the soul. It is communication that transcends the verbal and speaks to the whole mind. Every piece of my work says something, even if that statement is as simple as "Chuck likes doing this". Art is such that the message the viewer carries away is just as valid as the message the artist intended, even when that message is not the same. Please enjoy my work and what it says to you.

Sales Information

If you would like to order something from this site, send me an email describing the item. I'll reply to let you know if it is still available and what shipping should cost. I can invoice through paypal or you can arrange payment by money order or check. Purchases ship as soon as possible after payment clears. I use USPS Priority mail flat rate because I can get a lot of stuff into one box for the same price thus making multiple item purchases easier and less expensive to ship. If you prefer a different carrier, let me know and I'll try to arrange it. Purchases delivered to a Minnesota address must be charged 6.875% sales tax.

Wholesale

Wholesale and designer discounts are available to those with a valid resale business license. Minimum purchase required for wholesale pricing; the designer discount requires a smaller minimum purchase and receives a smaller discount. I regularly accept designer discount orders for glass beads and glass pendants, and wholesale orders for glass beads, glass pendants, earrings and jewelry. If you would like to purchase other pieces of my work for resale, contact me to discuss your needs and we'll discuss a way to meet them.

Thank you for visiting my website.

Happy shopping!

Chuck
